Swamp help

Post by Sgtrainbow » Wed May 22, 2019 8:00 pm

So I only recently began playin SLW, but I love it! My biggest issue right now is making swamp areas for my frogs? They always die and never mate because I don't have swamp land and I don't know how to make it. :?:

Swamp aren't very difficult.
Create a flat land, flood it with just a little water (2 to 4 pixels approx), and add some reeds, and grass.
You must also have some land outside of the water.

And that's it.'

For small swamp it's good and there are not any problem

But for large swamp it's hard to make them happy since grass can't grow underwater :(

Yes true, but your swamp should be made with some soil over the water.
It should be part soil and part water.

Weird, I've maintained my frogs for a while and never noticed the need for grass. It's just uneven soil with water in the crevices and lots of reeds, they seem fine. I do notice that they are good at being delinquents and a lot of them are killed by hopping onto my larger elevation of ground for my pandas and dying there, so be careful of them just leaving the swamp I guess?

Unfortunately, frogs are a little stupide.
Than often move randomly, so they often end in wrong place....

You can't do a lot to prevent this... But let hope they reproduce fast enough to compensate.

I have found the solution to the random moving part. It makes your world look ugly but hey at least you get your animals. Just choose one spot, spam the raise soil tool 3-4 times, and boom the frogs can't jump over the walls. Now I have no problems with them crawling over to my mice or pandas 👍

You can try something like this:

This way you can cover large areas, create potential fish lakes, and ensure that even in a drought or flood some frogs survive.
They used to be filled with tons of frogs, but my owls slaughtered them :(
